This problem began about 6 months ago. System having trouble handling certain filters (ie MB Looks). Canvas will not display video. It simply shows a solid color screen as if the filter is too complex. Could this be a problem with graphics card? Rendering clips creates file with same resulting solid color screen. I’ve tried a variety of scratch video files and different scratch disks all with plenty of free space. My system is a 2×3 Ghz quad core with 10G ram. Any ideas? I am going crazy without use of my filters.

[Eric Feller] ” Could this be a problem with graphics card?”
    Exactly.
That’s very typical when you are working with full HD 10b stuff and your GPU is not powerful enough.

Any recommendations for graphics card that can handle Full HD with filters?

So, six months ago everything was working fine?
Have you tried reinstalling MB Looks?

I did try reinstalling MB Looks. It actually acts funky with some FX Factory filters as well. I don’t see any signs of bad graphics card other than these filter issues. I have NVIDIA GE FORCE 8800 GT. Mac is 4 years old.

[Eric Feller] “I don’t see any signs of bad graphics card”
Is not about a faulty graphic card, but about power.
I have two MBP, one 4 years old and the other one year old.
The old one fails many times on rendering some MB presets on Prores 1080 stuff.
If I apply the same effects on 720p stuff or I set 8b YUB rendering, it works.
It would be great if they would implement again the optional “CPU rendering” from the first MB versions.

Have a look to NVIDIA or ATI to see which options are available to your Mac.
