FCP 7 supports User Clip Name !!!
I was a little upset yesterday when some friends on the FCP beta team told me that there was no user clip name support in FCP7 from P2.
I just received my retail version from Apple and I am excited to report that user clip name does indeed map into the quicktime name along with the first 6 characters of the global id, similar to what RayLight does.
Now if I could get the folders based on Program Name, then I would be all set.

What about the rest of the metadata?

This is great news! I’m OK with it being USERCLIP and metadata will be OK living in the P2 Archives.
This is actually huge for my workflow.
