I’m running a PowerMac and the footage is connected via Firewire 800 from an external drive. I only have 2 angles, but when I try to play them out it can only go about 10 seconds before it stutters and the video comes to a complete stall. The audio plays out but the video doesn’t. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks,

    Brian

You’re on a PPC based system? It’s a miracle you can get one stream to play. You don’t have the horsepower for multistream 444.

Heck, the FIREWIRE drive is lucky to play back ONE stream of ProRes 444. That’s a very high data rate.

Two strikes against you on this thus far.

Absolutely! You might get lucky with ProRes LT.

Thank you everyone for your input. You’re all right. I tried transcoding to the ProRes Proxy and it works perfectly. The director never even knew I was in low-res haha.

    Take care!
