  • FCP 7 in Yosemite – full screen playback is no longer full screen

Posted by Lennaart Van oldenborgh on April 11, 2016 at 5:15 pm

I’ve recently upgraded my OS to Yosemite from Mountain Lion, and am still using FCP 7 for older projects.
I’ve noticed that if I play back on a second monitor in full screen, the menu bar in the top remains visible (which it didn’t use to do in Mountain Lion), and so it is no longer true full screen… has anybody found a setting or workaround to get true full screen back, i.e. make the menu bar disappear?

    Thanks!

[Dave LaRonde] ” Easy: go back to Mountain Lion. Ask yourself which is more important, a sparkly-new OS or a properly-functioning FCP.”

Yes I’d thought of that – which is fine for my edit work station but not so fine for the laptop… I was just hoping against hope there might be a workaround I don’t know about before I commit to working across two OSses. Thanks anyway 🙂

” on a second monitor in full screen, the menu bar in the top remains visible ”

this is a OS issue, not FCP

go to system prefs, Mission Control (i think)
turn OFF “second screen is a separate space” or something along those lines.

That works!! I just unticked ‘displays have separate spaces’
I’d been looking in the display preferences but of course it’s a mission control feature.

    Thanks you so much!
