  • FCP 7 Feature Documentary Subtitle Issue

I’m currently editing a feature documentary in Korean. I have spent months translating the rushes with English subtitles on the text generator in FCP 7. However I fear I have made a massive mistake instead of using ‘Outline Text’ I created all the subtitles in the project with ‘Text’ instead. I now need to have a transcript of 1,000s of text titles we are talking hours upon hours of footage.

I have title exchange pro however it doesn’t recognize the text files I have created as they were done using ‘Text’ not ‘Outline Text.’ Is there anyway around this?

Maybe using different software or changing all of the titles to ‘Outline Text’ instead of ‘Text?’

Any help would be greatly appreciated, really up against it!

    Hi Matthew,

Title Exchange Pro should , i believe, recognise FCP’s simple “text” generator.
the only text generator it wont recognise is the Boris Text
that is unreadable in FCPs XML, and if you used that you really are in trouble.
you’d have a LOT of boring manual work ahead of you

hopeful you did use the simple FCP Text generator.
you should probably contact Andreas, the developer of TEP, he may be able to analyse your XML and see what the issue is.
