FCP 7 Export quesiton
Posted by Jorge Hernandez on March 12, 2012 at 10:22 pmHello everyone,
Thank you in advance for anyone that can help me with this problem. I am editing a 30 second commercial piece for a small organization and they have asked me to export the project so that it is 1GB. I been trying to get it to be a higher size but all I can get it 85mb, my timeline is apple proress 422HQ 1920X1080 square. If anyone can help me with this export question it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

March 12, 2012 at 10:26 pmDid you EXPORT>QUICKTIME MOVIE…and check SELF CONTAINED?
A :30 export, ProRes HQ…is 633MB on my end. That’s about as big as it’ll get. 85MB? yeah…I bet you are exporting a REFERENCE QT.

March 12, 2012 at 10:37 pmSorry for the wrong answer, I have made it self contained and when I export using apple proress 422 1920X1080i the video does give me a 638mb but the video stops in between the piece.

March 12, 2012 at 10:47 pmIs your footage ProRes HQ too? or is the footage H.264 in a ProRes sequence?

March 12, 2012 at 10:52 pmyes, my footage is 1920 × 1080 Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), Linear PCM, Timecode duration 31 and it stops at 24 but audio continues. I just did a send to compressor and apple proress HQ and it worked!! I don’t know why it was giving me trouble in FCP. It is now 613.3MB! Thanks a lot for your response! it means a lot that you helped me! Is there anyway of making this go even bigger in compressor? Thanks a lot! for everything Shane!

Why? What will a larger file get you? Yes, the client asked for 1GB, but :30 of ProRes HQ won’t get to 1GB. Just tell them this is full quality, and be done with it.
My file was larger, I’ll wager, as I had 8 channels of audio…and you most likely had 2.

March 12, 2012 at 11:03 pmI just want to make it at least the same file size as the old one which was 614.3 MB with a bit rate of 157,487. Mine is 613.3 MB with a bit rate of 157,402.
