  • FCP 7 – Clean Install – ProApp 2008-05?

Posted by David Fortin on January 25, 2010 at 3:48 pm

Last week I did a clean install (re-formatted HD) of OS 10.5.8 and FCP 7. Used the Software Updater to bring everything current (except things like iTunes and other stuff I don’t use). Everything went well. Everything seems to work.

Today, the software updater says that I need to install “Pro Applications Update 2008-05, ver 1.0”.

The release notes states that this software is for applications with older versions that what I’m running. Such as Color 1.0.4.

Should I tell Software Updater to install this?
Or should I just keep ignoring it?
Don’t know why it is telling me to do this, since I thought it had been done during the installation process last week.

Has anyone else run into this?

    Thanks,

    David

My advise, if you don’t need it….don’t install it!!!

I have the same issue and would hope the update would be savvy enough not to mess us up. Not certain so I’ve held off.

Maybe holding on to LiveType is what’s doing it.

    Lance,

Good point. A yearly project I work on uses LiveType. I installed LiveType after I installed FCP 7, so I’d have it available.

    That could be it.

    Thanks.

    I totally disagree.

the ProApps Updates were always the little fixes that can solve a number of issues.

this one fixed a bug in ProRes capture and playback, plus a memory leak in the Color interface if I remember correctly.

I ALWAYS recommend that you update theses updates as long as you are not in the middle of a project.
