May 3, 2012 at 3:57 pmIs there anything I can do with an uncertified no-serial FCP7 on my new Macbook Pro with Lion.
It just won’t open. -

May 3, 2012 at 4:03 pmYeah, you can trash the illegal software, call 1-800-Apple, and buy the freaking suite. Bet that will install just fine.

May 3, 2012 at 4:24 pmNot sure what insurance will cover. Can I buy some kind of wholesale copy of an earlier version and do upgrades?

May 3, 2012 at 6:47 pmI don’t understand the situation there. You have an unlicensed copy on a computer? or did you buy this license and can’t find the registration papers or? If you buy a retail license from say e-bay and it’s not FCP 7, it is upgradeable to FCP 7 by calling Apple at the number above.

May 3, 2012 at 10:05 pmI’ve worked with Adobe & Apple product for 25 years so I’m a bit of a dinosaur. Dinosaur-like I just kept whatever I was using on externals, never really worried about updating. I bought software personally in early years and it was purchased by ad agencies on my behalf in later years and installed often by others.
Last week my Macbook Pro was stolen and I bought a new one with Lion on it and now nothing works.
It’s a world of serial numbers and registrations and I have learned that I’m not registered for much. Photoshop CS2 and Final Cut Pro 7 were my key tools, so I’m basically out of business until I come up with more money than I’ve just spent. I’m also hurting for Acrobat Pro, but that’s only a couple hundred dollars.Any advice?

May 3, 2012 at 10:48 pmLearn FCP X?
It’s gonna run just peachy on that new machine, and at 399 including Motion 5 and Compressor, seems to me to be a no brainer if you can get away from FCP 7…

May 4, 2012 at 4:25 amI just read that FCP X is not backwards compatible with FCP 7 files. If that is correct and if
FCP 7 won’t run on Lion I think I’ll be changing machines. I can’t run a business like this.
Is Apple nuts?Bruce
