FCP 7 and EL Capitan
For years I have worked with FCP 6 on my quad G5 with 3gb ram.
This year I bought a 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 quad core and 16gb ram… with the idea of installing Premiere pro CC.
I also put FCP 7 on it.
What I cant figure out is why I can do great things with 3gb on my G5 system and
have all kinds of drop frame problems in FCP 7 on the 16gb system.
Does not make sense to me. Even with no overlays or multitracks It stalls on play
with drop frame errors. This cant be right.Premiere is sluggish too and I have the recommended 16gbs of ram it asks for.
I wonder if I am doing something wrong. I thought Maybe I should have bought an 8core mac pro instead.
I read somewhere that some 2009 systems defaulted at booting up in 32bit but
I dont know how to check that and wonder if Premiere would even work in 32bit.
I read you can hold down 6 and 4 to boot in 64 bit… but must be a way to check.any suggestions?
