FCP 6.0.5 losing ‘REEL’ info on clips
Hello all.
I have an issue in 6.0.5 of Final Cut Pro that I’ve never come across before. I have an editor working on 6.0.5 on OSX 10.4.11. He is working in an AJA KONA 3 Pro Res 422 HQ 1080 project.
Basically they are capturing in material from archive sources (VHS / DVD) and upscaling via the AJA. The editor is entering a reel name in and then using the ‘capture no’ function as these formats have no timecode.
The footage captures in fine. However, whenever he renames a clip from say ‘cipname12’ to ‘vietnam aerial footage 12’ the ‘REEL’ column becomes blank. So it’s losing all relation to this info. This has only just been spotted and obviously is already causing problem further down the line as this info will be needed to relate back to when archive sources need ordering up for replacement.
I have told the editor to replicate the ‘reel’ name in his ‘description’ field as well as then at least we can get this info from clips by ‘reveal in finder’. But currently he has only been entering info into the ‘REEL’ column.
Does anyone know how to stop this from happening or has encountered this before? I have taken a copy of his project and tested it on my system which is 6.0.5 as well. The only difference is that I’m on 10.5.6.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Regards,
Sam Mangan
