    my motherboard failed on my macbook pro which is 3.5 years old.
    i bought an imac but it won’t install either fcp 6 or panther.
    so i bought fcp x but it wont open my final cut pro 6 projects that i’ve been working on for the last year.

    does anyone know what i am to do to get back a years work?

    It is well documented that FCPX cannot open old FCP legacy projects. So firstly ask for your money back from Apple although since they released the demo version of FCPX they might not do that.

    You need to get Leopard or Snow Leopard and start again with a clean install of OS and then reinstall your FCP6. Lion and FCP6 install is tricky as Lion doesn’t support Rosetta. There have been many posts on this forum about doing just this so start with a search of this forum for more detailed advice.
