FCP 6 not longer opens.
Posted by Neal Fox on September 28, 2012 at 1:39 pmI’ve got FCP 6. Worked fine. Now it no longer opens. It just gets hung up on the startup screen with the beach ball spinning.
I trashed the prefs but not sure if there’s more than one file I should trash. Seem to recall that but couldn’t find any others.
I also repaired permissions.
I’m on a Mac Pro with 16 gigs of ram running snow leopard.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

September 28, 2012 at 6:20 pmHi Jerry.
Not sure what you mean. Do you want me to create a new account in Creative Cow? Or is this something to do with my question?

September 28, 2012 at 6:41 pmIf you are trying to open a project, move your media to a different location and open the project. If it opens, you have a corrupt clip in your sequence.
Another problem may be a conflict with a plug-in.

September 28, 2012 at 7:15 pmThis is weird. I just let it try to open this time for a few minutes. Eventually it did.
And now it opens just fine each time.
Go figure!
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll keep them in mind in case it happens again.

September 29, 2012 at 1:43 pmNot weird. That is normal. FCP scans all the files to make sure they are correct. Depending on the project size, it can take awhile.
