I am trying to find the magic combination that makes capturing HDV-SD60p that is shot with a JVC HD100 camera easy in FCP 6.

What I have found is a fix that involves a DVHSCap free application that is a suggested workaround. To the best of my knowledge, all this information has been based on FCP versions before 6.0.

My question is….does anyone know if this still applies to FCS 2 and FCP 6 and beyond? Is DVHSCap the only solution still?

My only solution in the past has been to play out of the camera by firewire and use the Apple intermediate codec to capture. The drawback of this (beyond wearing out the camera before its time) is that you can’t add in and out points and name individual clips or batch capture. It just basicallly does a capture now. We now have a new deck that plays everything JVC, but I can’t get FCP to play along.

    Thanks for any input.

that workflow should still work though I find it cumbersome.

You could capture the transport streams with DVHSCAP and use mpeg stream clip to convert it losslessly there, but you would have to change the frame rate to 29.97 wouldn’t you?

Final Cut only plays 60fps on 720P HD stuff.
