    Hi,

I used to work in FCP 5 and always got excellent deinterlaced quicktime compressions. Now I’ve moved to FCP 6 and it’s uneven…

Some shots in my 44 minute film just won’t deinterlace, it’s really weird and annoying.

Any idea what’s going on and if there’s another solution besides deinterlacing on my original timeline ?

    Thanks.

I always de-interlace using Compressor and it works great for me. Export reference QT and import into Compressor, pick a preset, tweak as needed and submit.

I’ll have a go. But isn’t this to make a DVD?

I need a (quicktime) file on the timeline to transfer to tape.

You can use it to transcode to a progressive format. However, if you’re going back to tape, why are you deinterlacing? What is your tape format?

I generally like the deinterlaced look of dv footage. I transfer my films to miniDV or Beta SP.
