  FCP 6 and cinema display

  We have a MacPro Quad-Core Intel Xeon that I just connected to a 2 year old 23″ Cinema Display. It looks great (not as good as our 30″ CD) but for some reason the filters in FCP 6 don’t function. You can drag and drop but on a clip but there is no effect. When I reconnect the 30″, no problems. I searched and couldn’t find any solutions in the forums so maybe someone has an idea? I have even re-installed FCP 6 and still nothing. Thanks for any help!
