FCP 6 and AVCHD
Will FCP 6 work natively with the consumer AVCHD codec for Sony ad Panasonic?

Not currently. Even with the AVCHD format, you want to bring it into your system using DVCPro HD, ProRes 422 or another codec. HDV and AVCHD are difficult formats to edit natively.
