I have been working on a project in 5.1.2 and was wondering if I can upgrade to 5.1.4 without disrupting my project. In the past, I had experienced problems when trying to run a project on another computer if the project had been created in another version.
    Thanks for your help.

Unless you are having problems with your system I would not recommend you upgrade your system mid-project. There shouldn’t be any issues with the update, but you just never know. Always best to wait until you finish the project and then update.

I’m still running 5.1.2 myself because the system is working well and I’m in the middle of about 9 projects right now.

And when you do decide to upgrade, keep a copy of FCP 5.1.2 (Copy the application, put it in an untitled folder and put it on the desktop) just in case FCP 5.1.4 doesn’t work out. Because getting BACK to FCP 5.1.2 would be impossible, unless you downloaded the update packages as separate installers.

Or, just get in the habit of cloning your system drive with Carbon Copy Cloner before performing any updates. It is the simplist and best solution and makes all concerns completely moot.

So far no problems with 5.1.4. Cutting a film in DVCPROHD 1080/24 and all good here.

Upgrading from 5.1.2 to 5.1.3 will make your find in bin function work flaky. VERY anoying and caused lots of problems. (editing startet on old version) Everything is else is ok though.
