  • FCP 5.1.4 ingesting clips, views them as idle

Posted by Arthur Luhn on April 12, 2007 at 3:57 pm

    Hello,

I am using FCP 5.1.4 and using the P2 import feature (file>import>Panasonic P2). This has worked perfectly fine until yesterday when it started viewing all clips as “idle.” Since there is nothing wrong with the cards, or the terminal (AJ-PCD20) I have been advised that this may be a case of software corruption. If that is true, then what is the thing to do here? Someone told me to try to update FCP, but I don’t see how I can update 5.1.4 because that’s the latest version as far as I know.. I’m not sure I want to reinstall.

    Help!

    FCP 5.1.4
    OS X 10.4.8
    G5 2.66 GhHz Dual-core Intel Xeon
    Panasonic AJ-PCD20
    HVX-200
    1 TB Lacie
    MBE v.2

Have you tried trashing the preferences on the FCp and starting over there. For some reason these do get messed up in an overnight or in an hour. Try this and rebuild the preferences file. That might do the trick.

You mean FCP>user preferences? I don’t see any settings in regard to export. Please explain further. I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

Try FCP resuce to delete preferences as Jan has described.

save your prefs, trash them and restart FCP.

    Yes I did..

I followed the procedure outlined in this link:

    https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93385

however as this was for FCP 4 and not FCP 5, I only deleted the “com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist” file. That seemed to work.

Please advise if this is not a sound method.

    Thanks.

I this is what fixed the problem then the method is sound. The programs I suggested just do this for you rather than you having to go find that file each time. It also gives you the option of backing up the files before you trash the plist.
