FCP 5.1.2 and JVC BR-HD50 DV/HDV VTR
Hi,
On my G5, I’m having trouble with transport control in HDV mode with the JVC BR-HD50 DV/HDV VTR using Firewire. In DV mode, I have no problem with it but when we switch over to HDV mode, FCP is not able to control the VTR as it will not respond to the Play, FWD, REW commands. I can see the input signal and even the timecode in Log & Capture and it just won’t control it. I can manually play the VTR and then do a Capture Now but I need to be able to log and capture.
When I use the JVC GY-HD100 camera instead, I have no problem controlling it via Firewire.
However, when we use a Powerbook to control the BR-50HD VTR in HDV mode, it works perfectly.
Both the G5 and Powerbook are running FCP 5.1.2.
Any idea ?

There’s a firmware update here (not dated) and instructions on how to load it. Perhaps this might help?

Thanks Steven for the info. We will check on that again.
The funny thing is that when we hook it up to a Powerbook running FCP 5.1.2, we are able to control the VTR in HDV mode perfectly. It is on the G5 that we’re having trouble controlling the VTR in HDV mode. In DV mode, it works perfectly as well.
