    Hello guys,
I got a quick questions about an FCP problem i am having. I am working on a g5, i dont have much more infor on it, but i can try to get it if need be.
but the problem i am having is that I was workign on a project, exported it as an mpeg2 and made the dvd in dvd studio pro, and closed fcp, and when i went to try to open it again it wouldnt open.
I tried all the rebooting and basics over and over again, with no luck

is there something i am doing wrong? what could cause this? how can i get it to open again?
do i need to reinstall fcp? i hope not.
any light on this situation would be fantastic.
    thanks

Try trashing preferences first. If you don’t know how to do that, search here on the Cow, there are a zillion references to it, or search Apple Help online. FCP Rescue is a great freeware program that will do it for you if you’re the least bit timid. BTW, if you have any special filters or custom settings, those will be lost, so best to open another project in FCP and save them if possible beofre trashing prefs.

Here’s a link on how to trash Final Cut Pro’s preference files properly:

As DRW mentioned, FCP Rescue is a great little freeware app for trashing prefs in a hurry. Just Google it and it’ll come up.

[David Roth Weiss] “if you have any special filters or custom settings, those will be lost,”

David’s right, however there is a workaround for saving Favorite fx. Create a new project, call it “Favorites” (or whatever), and copy all the fx/fx folders from the original project into this new project. You’ll then be able to copy these fx into any other project.
