FCP 5.0 on Intel Macbook Pro
hi, need some confirmaton from you pros.
System: MacBook Pro, Duo Core, 2GHZ, 2G RAM, x1600 Radeon, FCP 5.0 installed on internal drive. I installed FCP 5 on my system from my friend’s disks so that I could learn the program. I purchased an excellent tutorial book FCP 5 by Diana Weynand from the Apple Pro Training Series. I’ve been doing the tutorial, learning the program, and I fully intend on purchasing the Intel latest Universal version of FCP as I continue. I’m just in learning mode now and I’ve come across a problem, but I suspect it’s related to my Intel system running a non-universal code version of FCP 5.0
The tutorial comes with video footage and sequences for learning. I’m at the video transistions section now and I keep getting the “dropped frame rate” window appearing any time the playhead comes to a cross-dissolve I’ve made in the timeline. I’ve adjusted all the RT settings as per their suggestions, and it will play only in the lowest quality settings. Audio cross-fades are no problem. Just video effects are the problem. I can playback video that they’ve rendered and put onto the disk for me to see, but if I create the effect the playhead stops a few frames into the effect. Same with any other effect that takes speed.
Do you think this is because I’m using 5.0 on an Intel machine and I need 5.1.2 to process properly?
Or could this be something to do with the bus speed of the internal drive requiring that I get an external drive? Thanks for thinking about this.
Cheers.
