    Hey guys,

Im having a problem with FCP 5.0 dropping frames during capture. Im running it on a Mac Pro, capturing preset, DV NTSC 48 kHz. Thought it might be the mac pro, so i tried it on my powerbook, and had the same problem, just not as frequent. As for the tapes themselves, they are in pristine condition and have not been exposed to any extremities, so It couldn’t be them.

    anybody, anything?

    thanks

Tapes were recorded from what camcorder? Canon, Sony, Panasonic, JVC. DV or DVCAM. Brand of Tape. Camera was set to 16 Bit 48khz or 32 bit 12mhz. Need more information.

Is “Abort capture on dropped frames” selected?

When frames are dropped, do you mean capture stops and you get a warning message? Or capture completes and you see frames missing/skipped in playback?

If frames are skipping in playback, is “Report dropped frames on playback” selected?

Does playback stop and you get a drop frame message, or are you seeing jerky playback without a warning?

    George,
Since I’m having the same problem I was hoping to jump in here for a second. I’m getting dropped frames/warning/abort on playback. This is the first HDV project and I’m using a dual 1 gig G4 PM. I just ordered more ram (using 768 currently) but am wondering if this G4 is going to push this footage or not. Any tips?

    Thanks much,
