FCP 5 unexpectedly quits when rendering
Hey all,
so many FCP issues, so little hair to pull out of my head.
Suddenly, when I render my timeline, FCP will unexpectedly quit after about ten minutes. This is if I render a small chunk at different parts of the timeline or the whole 90 minute show. Sometime back I had had a similar problem with exporting QTs out of FCP, but that was with slightly different software versions. I fixed that by exporing via compressor (thanks for the help y’all), but unfortuntly that won’t help me now.
Anyone had this problem? Software conflicts to blame?
I recently upgraded to FCP 5.0.4, OS 10.4.5, Quciktime 7.0.4, Blackmagic drivers 5.2.4, and I just bought and partitioned my raid array with SoftRAID 3.3. I’m running a G5, dual 2ghz.
Oh and I just installed iLife (it’s a long story) to update GarageBand and iMovie and all that stuff.
I’ve trashed the FCP preferences (best. trick. ever.), verified and repaired my startup disk in disk utility, uninstalled Norton Utilities, and my system never sleeps.
Reinstall FCP? only option left to me?

I had a similar problem not long ago and I traced it to a corrupt media file. I replaced the file and it would render.

I found the bad media file late last night, after rendering everything else on the timeline (90 minute show) piece by piece.
