FCP 5 review
Posted by Steve Connor on May 19, 2005 at 6:17 pmIf FCP has shipped, where are the reviews? I’ve seen no detailed ‘hands on” reviews at all

May 19, 2005 at 7:25 pmMaybe they’re keeping it to themselves. I’ll be getting my copy tomorrow and one way or another I’ll let you know how it works out.

May 19, 2005 at 7:33 pmOk, here’s a question I haven’t seen answered yet:
Can the multi-cam editing be set to “off-set” the cuts?
In other words, can I set it for -1 seconds so that as I’m editing, if I see the camera I’m using suddenly jerk, I can switch off of it 1/2 second later and have my cut fall 1/2 second BEFORE the jerk?
I haven’t heard anything about that but it seems like such a good (and yet simple) idea that I really want to think Apple would have thought of it too.

May 20, 2005 at 1:07 amI’m finding the capability to run multiple codecs in the same timeline. For months this was a rumor, then when FCP5 was announced it was dubbed untrue. But I have an orange RT-Extreme bar over a DV clip inside an Uncompressed timeline. It plays back fine with no rendering.
This could be a Blackmagic thing. Can anyone else confirm this?
I’m going to try more combinations. DV50, IMX, etc. Maybe even HD and SD can be mixed. I’ll post the results.
