    Hi all,

We (at my work) are currently evaluating FCP5/Tiger for our NLE production suites … on the pro-side there are the obvious and much talked about new features, but what I’m trying to do is to get a handle on what current problems/issues, that those of you that have already jumped in, are facing.

What I want to create is not a ‘slag’ fest, but as far as possible, an objective list of current issues, and they should be at least to some degree repeatable.

If you’ve got any issues you’d like to add to the list, please be sure to include your hardware and I/O specs, the codec you’re using, and whether you are running FCP5 on Panther or Tiger.

Hopefully this might be a useful list or point or reference to all of us.
Thanks in advance to everyone who can contribute.

I kind of thought the whole message board acted as a list of problems. 🙂

If you register at lafcpu.org you can view their FCP5 Bug Report forum.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

For starters, the NUMERO UNO gotcha is found when people avoid doing a clean install of the system software and FCP5 and instead just update their existing systems and software.

Jerry Hofmann and I talked about this on the phone the other day and we also talked about how most people who do the clean installs are not the ones doing the complaining…

    Best regards,

    Ron,

I am one of the ones who did a clean install, and so far, things are pretty good, but there are some bugs.

I saw Mitch Ives’ post about confusing dynamic playback quality as a bug as far as rendering type crisply, and I can’t get it to work, I have to set field dominence to none to get a clean image on tape.

I had a project freak out yesterday and I lost video capture mid project, also lost my audio waveform on track 1. I copied everything to a new project and that fixed it, but in 4 years and every version before 5 I never had to do this before.

I did notice a cool improvement in keyframe management today tho, in the keyframe editor on the timeline, you can now drag multiple keys all at once, very cool.
