    Hey folks,
I’m looking at buying either the sony hvr-v1u camcorder or the canon xh-a1. In most respects, the canon looks like a better deal, but I’m concerned with how it’s 24f frame rate (as opposed to traditional 24p) will import and edit in FCP. I’ve read that it’s compatible with FCP version 6, but I have 5 and am not ready to upgrade. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for the help, Chris G.

24f support…meaning HDV at 23.98…is not possible in any version prior to FCP 6. You can capture it at 1080i60 and still have the “film look,” but it will be 29.97. Which is fine. Very VERY few people need to capture and edit 23.98.
