    Ever since going to fcp 5, rendering photos with keyframes and motion takes a long time! 10 minutes of video too two hours to render! I first rendered with motion filtering set to best.. but I had a problem that others reported.. shakey photos! So I ended up lowering it down to linear-fastest. But rendering still takes way way longer than 4.5 does! I have 4.5 on another drive on my mac, and when I boot to that drive, rendering is fast. I have a g4 1.5 ghz with 1.5 megs of ram and a radeon 9800 256 meg video card.

    So why the long rendering? Just because the algorhythms are different with 5.1?

    My experience contradicts yours, sorry. From where I’m sitting, I can’t help you determine where you are getting the processing hit.
    My old dual 2.7 G5s (10.4.6/FCP5.1) don’t scream when compared to the new Macbooks but they are a huge improvement over our previous hardware. We did not feel FCP5 was in the least bit slower than 4.5. Our recent updates to 5.1 did not appear to contribute significantly to the user experience.

    Did you make the settings change to your current sequence or in your user prefs? You’ll need to change it in both as the preference only effects new sequences.

    I changed it in both. I read a g5 user having the same problem. Had to change the setting to linear, fastest. And another article mentions text having problems unless this is set to linear..
