I thought I saw a thread on this awhile back but I can’t find it anymore. Sorry for the repost.

Can I run Final Cut Studio AND FCP4 AND FCPHD on the same machine? Right now, I can run both FCP4 and FCPHD on the same machine. I don’t want to lose that ability. I would like to buy FCP5 and be able to run all 3 programs depending on the client.

    Thanks,

    Paul

You’ll have to wait until someone actually has the software.

    Hi,

Create a separate partition, or use a different drive, and install Tiger, FCP5 etc. on the other drive or partition.

    Best Wishes,

    Mitch

[PK] ” be able to run all 3 programs depending on the client.”

Now why on earth would you want to do that? I can’t think of one reason to go back to FCP 4.1 from FCP 4.5. Does you client insist? Or maybe you work on a client’s programme which he must import back into a FCP 4.1 system. Hey, I’ve just though of a reason to use 4.1! Just not a good one – get your client to upgrade as well! It’s long overdue.

FCP 5.0 I can understand, we are all a bit skittish because it is a .0 release – if you risk your business on 5.0 you should have your head examined…

I have good reason to do this too. I edit offline jobs with mirrored media on a regular basis for a Post Production house.
They cannot risk going to FCP 5 straight away as they have tight on-air deadlines. I email them the project file and they
compile the show and add there own graphics. Works brilliantly. However I would like to move up to FCP 5 for my other clients.

Unfortunately, my client sometimes makes changes himself and he only has access to FCP4.
