  • FCP 5 AJA IO External Video Problem

Posted by Glenn Dreher on May 22, 2005 at 12:24 am

I have installed FCP 5 according to Apple’s instructions and now have no external video coming out of my AJA IO except for “Current Frame”. I have the latest AJA driver and firmware installed but still no external video coming through the monitor. I have unplugged a firewire deck and am only running the AJA IO firwire port.

I have deleted preferences and checked what I think are all the obvious settings. Has anyone had this issue or know of how to solve this problem.

I am running a G4 Dual 1.42, 2 Gig RAM, OSX 10.3.9, AJA IO, external SCSI RAID.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Wait for the new drivers. I think that will solve the problem

My io is running just fine with FCP5 and 10.4.1, but AJA dose not support this configuration until the new drivers. I have been told that they are coming this week, and that apple is running final tests. Initially they had a problem with dynamic frame rate, but that should be worked out.

I’m a little confused. Are you saying that AJA is not supporting 10.4.1 and FCP 5 at this time or that they have yet to release drivers for 10.3.9 and FCP 5?

Officially, 10.3.9 and 10.4.1 and FCP5 are not supported by the io right now, nor is FCP 4 or 4.5 under 10.3.9 or 10.4.1. Give it a week and apple should have the drivers back to AJA and posted (but you know how drivers have been). But it dose work for about half of all users that have upgraded.

It is not an FCP 5 issue, but a 10.3.9 / QT7 issue.
10.3.9 is NOT recommended even thought you have to install it to use FCP5 in panther.

Thanks for the QT 7.0 & 10.3.9 info Gary. It;s amazing that amongst all the press and fanfare that has come with this release of FCP Studio that Apple doesn’t mention that “Studio” is not not recommended for use with 10.3.9. It’s a little misleading in light of the fact I had dialogue with a high level Apple rep and he never mentioned anything about issues with Panther. Oh well, live and learn.
