FCP 4×3 Anamorphic issues
Hi,
I have footage shot on a DVX at 30p letterboxed in camera. Months ago I captured the footage, organized, named, etc without a hitch. Now that I’m back into the project again, I want to make some changes, specifically to the scratch files in finder such as tape number, date, etc. Obviously this makes the media disconnected and I can re-connect in FCP just fine. Now the problem is that when I re-connect it, the footage in the viewer displays it as anamorphic and horizontally stretched. What’s interesting to note is that even though everything captured fine and worked well the first time around, I do remember the capture window being stretched, but once I double clicked the footage, it displayed correctly in the viewer window. Also, the capture files in finder also play back stretched in quick preview as well as quicktime. So I’m guessing that quicktime is incorrectly interpreting the 4×3 letterbox as anamorphic, when its really 4×3 with a letterbox matte recorded in-camera. It also screws things up when I make a new project file and drag footage in. This makes me think that the old project file has information thats telling the footage to be correctly interpreted at 4×3.
Please help!
