  • FCP 4.5 will NOT import .IPR (Live Type) or Render Animations

Posted by Michael Jones on August 14, 2007 at 9:46 pm

I don’t know what I have done! I open a new project with captured video and FCP will not allow .IPR projects to import. (Grayed Out) I was able to bring in a QT Animation (Rendered from Cinema 4D) with a straight alpha, but the screen / preview inf FCP shows “Unrendered”. I try to “Render All” but it will not do anything. If I move the Animation QT file over – off of the captured video – it will render and show up in the preview and play. Not when it is scacked over captured video.

There must be something I did to the playback settings. I did try trashing preferences and updated the driver to my ATTO Raid Drives. (Using BM 8 bit) but still nothing.

    Any suggestions? Thanks,

Trash your preferences. Probably have to reinstall LT. Did you set the alpha flag for the the material you imported from Cinema?

    All the best,

    Trashed Preferences Again… No Luck.

When I open the Animation file from the Library in FCP, it shows the checkered background – which tells me it recognizes the alpha. The strange part is when I slide it over another video track in the time line – I see nothing in the preview! It shows RED (needs rendering) but nothing occurs when I “Command R”. If I slide it over by itself (one track) It renders.

Live Type Project File is still Grayed out on import.

    Should I just “Start Over”?

Trash your preferences. You’ve changed the render control options in the Sequence menu. Is the red bar checked in the Render Selection submenu? Did you reinstall LiveType?

OK, went in Sequence Settings and switched from “Render in 8-bit YUV” to “Always Render in RGB”. The Animation file in timeline now renders! (Thanks)

What is up with all the warning info about RGB? Should I stay in YUV and figure a way export my Animation files in YUV so that it would render? “Render in 8-bit YUV”

(As for Live Type – I’m still working on the re-install.)
