When I upgraded to 4.5 HD i experienced a severe slow down in the performance of 4.5 HD. Specifically during editing. When trying to trim video in a timeline, regardless of the size of the project, there is a few second delay between making the trim and the edit being executed.

I have uninstalled 4.5 and reinstalled 4.1 and the problem has gone away. I reinstalled 4.5 and the problem still occurs.

I have reinstalled OS 10.3.8 and donwloaded all of the FCP updates.

Has anyone else had similar problems when upgrading to FCP 4.5 HD

    It’s running on a g5 dual 1.8 – with 2g of ram and 1 tb raid

    Thanks,

    David

It’s a known problem and it’s fairly well-documented. Media captured with earlier versions is a bit dodgy.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    Try this,

    Turn off the following:

    1.Image and Wireframe (Image only)
2.Turn off Autosave vault(it sucks anyway just save often)
    3.Turn off “show overlays”
    4.Turn off dupe detection

I had similar problems, was about to throw the system in the fire. I stuck with it, followed alot of suggestions and now I am very pleased.
