When I digitize with my dv camera or my usb mic Final Cut Pro crashes after digitizing the 1st clip. I can digitize one thing and then it crashes on the second clip. The software locks up, then I hard boot the computer, and what is left is a huge file that takes up the rest of my hard drive. I have thrown my preferences out and it still crashes on the second clip. Has anybody experienced this? I work on FCP all day long at work and this never happens their, it is only happening on my home computer(G4 Dual 1.25).

    Hi Eric

Does your Mac at home have antivirus software running?
Is the large file called something.av?

Check out this Apple Support document

    Hope this helps

Does the computer crsah, or do you just get the spinning ball? If it’s the spinning ball, just wait. It may take a few minutes, but eventually, it will go away. Don’t ask me why this is, but sometimes this happens with Capture Now. The solution, at least with your camera, is to do a Batch Capture.

I am on the latest OS update(not Tiger). I have Virex on my system. As for upgrading, no. I have just updated my software for all the latest OS and final cut pro software.

As for the coment from Aaron Orton….CLASSIC!

I have experienced the same problem many times. I seems when FCP is trying to appropriate HD space for the video it is about to digitize, it gets suck. Then you end up with the huge file you mentioned. This has happened to me on two different machines. If I find anything else out I will post it.
