    Hi –

    I’m a lowly independent producer who hasn’t managed to upgrade beyong 4.5 yet…
    and I pose the following query;

    Can I edit HD (DVCPro codec) if I import the MXF files? I think I can, but I’m not sure.

    Thanks.

    Good question. Get some files and test it. You’ll have to import them on a machine with FCP 5.0.4 or higher, as FCP 4.5 cannot import P2. But it should work in theory.

    I don’t have FCP 4.5, otherwise I’d test it.

    I’m about to try this myself. FCP 4.5 may not read P2 files, but isn’t there a conversion tool that converts a P2 file to standard Quicktime that FCP 4.5 can read?
