I recently added a new 300GB Seagate External to my G4 D1.25 system (I have 4 internals and two other externals). This drive was to be used primarily as a backup.

I did add it as a scratch disc and now FCP gives me an error message and wont start unless the new Seagate is attached. Error tells me that “Drive Seagate… is missing. In order to maintain the integrity of FCP…”.

I deleted all the files in the drive and threw away the associated FCP projects and the problem still exists. I also unchecked it as a scratch disc.

Telling FCP about that drive means it thinks it’s good for capturing to. By removing the reference, it should have been removed, though.

You might try Trashing Preferences for FCP. That may fix this problem!?

You might want to finish reading that error message. It lets you reset your scratch disks & then it will finish starting FCP.
