Fastest Way To Import FCP .MOV files into MEDIA 100HD?
I have a client coming in later today to do a quick edit. They’ve got about 30 pieces saved to DVD as FCP .mov files.
[It looks like the format is DV/DVCPRO 29.97 NTSC 720 x 480. 16-bit Integer (Big Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz – Data Rate: 30.38 mbits/sec]
I do have FCP, but don’t want to edit on that. Is there a way to quickly import these into the M100HD? A 5 1/2 minute clip takes about 10 minutes to import

Thanks Floh… I’m importing off of the DVD-R… But I’ll try bringing it to the drive first…
But won’t it still change the file to a M100 codec file? (I’m using M100i 100kb codec for these)… What import settings would I use to make them “fast import”?

If the files are in a Media 100 “realtime” codec (Media 100 i, HD, 844/X, Animation, DV(25)) they should fast import and not change their codec. If you open the “Import” dialog you will see a “Import Media to the standard and Compressor” checkbox. If this is checked the files get transcoded into the selected codec. If it is not checked supported codecs should “fast import”. We do a lot of exchange with FCP DV codecs in realtime playback. Really very helpful…

Probably it is much too late now, but are you running Media 100 HD 10.1.2 or 10.1.3, or are you running an earlier version? I think I can remember that FastImport of FCP DV media was fixed in 10.1.2 and did not work in earlier versions.
