Check the “Same As Source” box. No re-encoding, just a copy of your edit in a QT container. Fastest way by far. Let Encore encode for BD from that. On your Encore system, you will need to have the Avid QT codec installed. The Avid QT codec is a free download at avid.com/codec.

If you are working in a AMA workflow, then the same as source won’t work as Avid doesn’t know what the source is.

If he’s not working with any AMA material, wouldn’t a Quicktime Reference be faster?

The Same As Source has the benefit of being transferable across systems and archivable, though.

Right on both accounts. I was assuming a self-containing result.

SAS with Avid Codecs. If you work with AMA you have to transcode first.
This is again the fastest method. QT ref is a little bit more faster (and this depends also)
but you can’t use the file elsewhere.

    HI Job.
Is it your understanding that encore should take a qt ref file?
If that qt ref file links a video mixdown file in avid, will that still work in encore. Are there any length restrictions you know about. the hd timeline is 2hr 32 mins.
and lastly, in encore , if i set the compression to automatic will that crunch the video down by the correct amount to fit on a 25gig BD.

    Thanks
    Peter
