  • Faster Internal Drive Affect Edit Power?

Very shortly buying 2.4ghz Macbook Pro w/4GB ram. Will the internal disk speed– 5400 is in stock, 7200 must be ordered from Apple– make ANY difference in FCP edit performance?

External drive solution will be eSATA, probably Caldigit.

I’d automatically get the 7200 internal, but must go on the road very soon and the shipping date won’t work out.

[Tareco, Inc.] “make ANY difference in FCP edit performance?”

Absolutely NO difference. System drive speed is very inconsequential. It will be faster at copying and duplicating files…but no help at all with editing performance. RAM and Processor speed…that’ it.

Thanks for the info, Shane. And the speed! Now I can order before close of business!
