Here is the scenario, I just finished two 10 mins long avps using final cut pro. I export my work via export>use compressor feature. My goal here is to export this material into a dvd. Using the setting encode best quality 90 mins, It finish the compression just fine, but it took way too long, 4 hours long to be exact. I was just wondering is there is a quicker way to do this.

If you have a multicore Mac you can set it to distribute to the cores (Virtual Cluster) using Apple Qmaster.

Go to System Preferences and click on Apple Qmaster. Click on QuickCluster. Click on Compressor. Click on option for selected service and select the number of “Instances.” Typical recommendation is to have 1GB of memory per core. Usually 4 Instances is good enough even for an 8 Core Intel Mac.
