I’m compressing a series of short clips (15min) to wmv. Right now I’m using cleaner 6.0 with Flip4Mac, and it’s taking about 4 hours per clip. Is there a faster alternative? The original footage FW from FPC. My WMV Settings are 640 x 480 at 1400 kbs.
My system is a 1.2 G4 Mac Mini.

On a mac, the fastest encoder is the one available in Episode. Episode’s encoder is much faster than the Flip4Mac Studio products (yes, although both products are now owned by the same company, the two products use completely different code). However, if you really concerned with encoding Windows Media in the shortest amount of time, then you will need a PC as it will be fastest by far under Windows XP.

And from my experience Flip4Mac is slowest in Cleaner. It’s faster in Compressor and Squeeze but still nowhere near as fast as Episode and WME on XP is faster still.
