Fast lenses comparison
I have a 550d camera which I bought to do video.
Before I always used some camcorders so didn’t have to think about anything like focus, aperture and stuff like that. Now I have to think about stuff like this, so my question is about difference of aperture of lenses.
I need to film a lot without any extra lights so I have always been told that the best way is to get a fast lens, meaning a lens with a low F stop. Now I have a EFS 17-55 F2.8 lens which is awesome.
So, having this lens will help me shoot in low lighted situation, but I would need to use it in F2.8 then, and the DOF is more there, so very hard to focus on a moving thing.
So the bottom line and the question is.
Is a lens with lower aperture better light up in higher F stop.
For example:50mm F1.8 recording at F8
VS
18-55 F3.5 – 5.6 recording at F8Is the faster lens letting more light in or ?
Hopefully you guys understand this question.. 🙂
