  • FAST IMAGES render problem not sharp…

Posted by Bruno Simon on September 10, 2009 at 1:20 pm

    Hi,
    Im using sony vegas 9.
I´ve a PAL project with upper field clips.
When render to mpg2 and burn DVD with architect, fast images or images with more movement are kind of dragged, not sharp, like if there was 2 or more of same images together….
Anyone can help me? I´m using

    PROJECT PROPERTIES:
FIELD ORDER: upper field first (I put this one, as I said my clips properties say that they are upper field..)
    DEINTERLACE METHOD: none

    thanks, bruno

How are you determining this? Are you watching them on a TV or a PC. Interlaced footage should be watched on an interlace device like a TV. If it looks OK on TV then there is no problem.

The field order of your source has nothing to do with the field order of your project. Projects can have source with multiple field order combination. PAL DV projects should be lower field first.

Try using the default project properties for PAL and don’t change any settings.

Are you sure that the source is really upper field? The key is to make sure that the attributes on the media are correct. If you know for a fact that the source is UFF and the attributes on the media are correctly identified as UFF then it should look fine in Vegas. If it looks fine in Vegas and you render using the standard PAL DVD template then Vegas should represent the fields appropriately.

You could also render as progressive but you’d have to specify a deinterlace method because setting it to none as you currently do will get you into trouble. The only progressive footage allowe don a DVD is 24p so you would also have to render to 24p.
