Fast Forward Lines
Posted by Albert Stander on April 26, 2010 at 11:46 amHey…
When I’m pressing the Ctrl button and drugging in a video to make it faster, it looks ok, but after I rendering that in MPEG2 for example, there are horizontally lines in that part of the clip.
Is there any way to make something look fast avoiding that?

This is an interlacing problem. What format is our source video? What project template did you use? In your project properties, what do you have your Deinterlace method set to? It should be Blend fields. What render format did you use? You need to explain your complete workflow (Source->Project->Render) for us to figure out where you went wrong.

April 27, 2010 at 5:57 amI’m not that good with the program yet, but I’ll try to explain.
It was mkv, with a converter program I made it mpeg2 so I can use it in SV.
It’s NTSC DV (720×480, 29.970 fps) but I think I just moved in the video without choosing any specific template, heh.
It’s in Blend Fields yes.
I tried to render it in differend formats with the same resault, but I mostly want it in MPEG-2 Default.

It sounds like this may be where things got confused. Was the video originally MKV interlaced? Was it upper field first or lower field first? Did the converter program deinterlace it? If not, is the new MPEG2 video interlaced and if so is it upper field first or lower field first and does Vegas show that it’s interlaced in the media properties? You could have caused the problem at any one of these points.
I would use AviDemux 2.5 on your original MKV video and convert it to MJPEG video with PCM audio. This might clear up your problem. Otherwise you’ll need top debug where the interlacing issues started and it probably has nothing to do with Vegas and needs to be fixed in your earlier conversion.

April 27, 2010 at 4:27 pmI tried to render some other videos and are ok. So the settings and Sony Vegas are fine.
I downloaded the program you told me, looks old, but I found some useful stuff using it.
I’ll see what I can do. Thank you.

As far as I know, that’s the latest version from the author.
Here are the settings I would use:
