  • FAQ – Version updates

Posted by Phil Yunker on January 30, 2008 at 4:21 am

Is there a place here on the cow or at the apple site (if that info can be trusted) that states what version(s) on Final Cut works with what version(s) of Quicktime and Mac OS?
    For example, I’m running:
    MAC OS 10.4.11
    FCP – 6.0.1
    QT – 7.3.1
    DVDSTpro – 4.2.0
    Compressor – 3.0.1
    livetype – 2.1.3
and all is working well, and I don’t want to update anything however, I feel I should to stay up to date and make sure any little bugs that may surface are taken care of before they surface.
Yet, with all the posts about QT 7.4 causing problems or Leopard causing problems for some users I’m was hoping there is a link or posting stating what OS version works with what FCP version and QT version for certain. Or even what OS version does not work with certain FCP versions, QT versions, etc…

    Thanks,

    Phil,

No! There are simply too many people using too many configurations. What works for Fredo doen’t always work for Michael, what works for Michael doesn’t work for Sonny, etc…

The best you can do is make certain that before updating you clone your system drive and have it standing by. If you always do that you never need to worry about updating and you’ll always be able to roll back if you encounter a problem.

Well Fredo is on an iBook G3 so that might be his problem.
