So the “fantastic” audio problem which existed in AE 7 for some people has managed to find it’s way into CS3. So once again I beg the question, does anyone know how to fix this? I’ve gone through 2 different versions of AE and the problem keeps showing up.

    Let me reiterate the issue:

    1. No Audio in RAM Preview
    2. No Audio in Audio Preview
    3. No Audio while scrubbing through
    4. Only audio occurs when played through project window or after rendering
    5. Uninstall/reinstall does not fix the problem
    6. Deleting the preferences doesn’t work

    AECS3 currently running
    2GB RAM
    Mac Pro G5 Intel
    Running OS 10.4.10

So once again, if anyone can help me I would REALLY appreciate it.

As a follow up, now it works. But I can’t just ignore the situation, becuase history has shown that it will bite me in the a$$ again when I least expect it.

    Composition > Preview > Audio.

Make sure there is a check next to audio. There is also a button in the time controls that does this.

It’s also possible you are using audio with a codec that AE doesn’t like. Is it uncompressed Audio? What format?

The option is checked, the audio is uncompressed. The more vexing issue about this problem is that, earlier in the day I would be working on it and everything will be working fine, then I come back to it later and it decides that no audio will play. It recognizes that the audio is there because the equalizer in the upper-right is fluctuating. The audio formats I generally use is WAV or AIFF and they generally work. It’s not only the audio as in a music file though, any audio in the movie clips won’t play either.
