    Hi, there is a fan sound coming from my mac book pro (2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2Gb RAM) when it is not doing anything (often times with Firefox and iTunes open). It never used to do this before.
    It quiets when I put it to sleep.

    Any ideas what this might be a sign of?

    Sound like a bad fan. Take it into a apple store.
