I’m writing you from backstage in ‘Video Village’ live at the Fall DEMO08. TIVO, Garman, and even Furby are just a few examples of things announced at past DEMO shows. By tomorrow many of todays demos will be streaming at: http://www.demo.com

Just announced two minutes ago – (we’re in show right now) was Fusion io – who demonstrated a small card that represents the power of a gigantic SAN – representing the equivalent of massive storage without the huge boxes or towers. One of the presenters tossed several DVD movies across the stage to his partner, and remarked that it represents the speed it takes to move files as large; claiming 1.5GB per second. He then pulled out a small card about the size of a SDRAM stick, attached it to the small card and said it’s that simple to double the storage capacity. They ended their six minute demo by rolling in two huge closet sized storage units and said that until now, that is what the equivalent amount of storage capacity looks like!

I am checking into if it will be a solution for fast editing as soon as we go into break.

Go to FlickR.com and search DEMO08 to see images of what’s going on. More to come….
