I want to fade out video tracks (composite) all at once.

Is there a way to group them such that I can fade a “master” and all the others underneath as well?

What’s the best way of doing this?

    Cheers,

    Gilles

View – Video Bus Track (Ctrl+Shift+B is the shortcut).
This adds a “master” video track at the very bottom of your timeline which affects everything above it.
On this new track, right-click and choose “Insert – Fade to Color”.
Add two points at the desired location and drag the second one to the bottom.

    Mike to the rescue!

Thanks a lot! I had read about this once or seen a demo but could not remember where/how.

    A BIG THANKS!

Master track will give Fade to Colour. But in these circumstances I’d employ a Nest into another instance of Vegas.

Thanks for the idea Graham. Makes sense.

In this case though, I really fading the entire project (all tracks) so Mike’s solution is the simplest/fastest/easiest.

I thought there would be a way to “link” tracks together and adjust this though… a bit like parenting tracks and using track motion to affect them all. Doesn’t look like it.

    Yup! I’m all for simplicity.

I’m lazy and just add a black media generated event to the top track and fade it in. Done.

WOW! So obvious. I’ve never heard of that one. Brilliant solution. I just hope I remember it.

    James,

    I echo Graham’s comment 🙂

Thanks for poiting out the obvious. I like it.

You’re most welcome, having figured out Vegas through a solo school of hard knocks my workflow tends to be simplistic. Though through forums and mostly watching tutorials I’m finding much easier ways of doing things all the time. But I still use the black generated media fade out all the time. You can also add transitions to the front end of it like iris, etc.
