  • Fading together a split scene?

Does anybody know how to fade a split screen together without a hard line down the middle? I have seen this effect many times, where the two scenes sort of “merge” together.

First, I will pan/crop/composite the scenes on 2 different tracks, but where they meet, needs to gently fade into each other, which i cannot figure out. Can anyone help?
    Thanks!
    Eric.

You mean Feather the edge? You can create a feathered edge using Bezier masking in the Pan/Crop.

Yes, feather… hmmm. I don’t remember seeing that option- doesn’t sound familiar.
Can you make adjustments to where it is feathering and how much?

Using the Bezier Masking tool, yes you can. There are other tools that allow feathering as well.

Thanks, i’ll give it a shot. I shot some fire with black background, and am trying to use it and replace the back background with footage from a boxing match. It is 2 separate clips; 1st with the flame on the left side and bottom, 2nd clip the fire is on the right side and bottom. I cant seem to get it to do what I want.

Is there some sort of tutorial on this feature, the Bezier Mask? I read the help file and messed with it, but dont really understand what to do. Maybe i’m missing something.
