Fading to black and fading up from black
We have filmed a piece to camera on a white background on track 1 there is a cropped white solid background on track 2 there is the recording of the aforementioned footage on the white backdrop. We have had to fill the left side of frame with the layer one background as the white backdrop wasn’t big enough. However, now when we try to fade up from black at the start and fade down to black at the end you are able to see a line where the backdrop meets the white layer, which isn’t there when you do not fade.
On avid I normally promote to 3D and the white to the same layer and then collapse all the tracks and can add a fade with no issues. When we nest with premiere we can see an odd compressed artifacts which are only present when rendering, but pre render it looks fine… we have no idea how to fix the issue. Can someone please help?

Try just putting a “Black Video” clip in a track above everything, then put a fade at the end of the black clip.
